I downloaded this game to my Mac (Catalina) and trying to run it gave me a "The application 'Beneath a Withering Moon.app' can't be opened" error. It turned out that the main executable did not have execute permissions. Running the following:

chmod -x /Applications/Beneath\ a\ Withering\ Moon.app/Contents/MacOS/Beneath\ a\ Withering\ Moon

solved the issue and it runs fine now.

Pretty fun, but very challenging to understand.

great title screen

playthrough starts at 7:50

i loved it! very cool, great job on the PS1 graphics. i'm not sure if the end where you have to mash to expand your luminance is on a timer, but if it is, try to take into account not everyone can do QTEs. if not then feel free to ignore that criticism haha

love a game where i can say "FUCK the moon"

I loved it. Thank you for the experience.

Really, really enjoyed this experience. Was a lot of fun trying to step through the actions, almost like a puzzle game. The whole aesthetic was phenomenal.

Puzzle A+. Sound A+. Visuals A+. Gameplay A+.  But lets get down to the meat and potatoes of this review.

When the game starts and we get our first look of the graphics and our first taste of the audio from a ground level panning shot. Now my, and Im sure many others, first impressions were "I bet this is gonna be a turned based rpg!"! Admittadly maybe this thought came from me being incredibly high before I started but I digress. Albeit a short intro I managed to get extremely hyped to play an oldschool PS1/2 era turned based rpg. I stared fantasizing about traveling across the realm defend the citizens from certain doom! Becoming a hero across the lands!

Eventually I will grow old, as we all do. The knees would begin to give way, my armor and weapon becoming mere decorations, the tales of my heroics will be the games of children spending their youth in the sun.

Then the time comes. I have been away from my post for far to long. The legion knows my name, around them I am a strong man with a good heart. My family, My wife, they will be missed indeed. With the last glint of my life I look around and all I have done and I am proud.

Maybe Im still high. Great game though!

I love this review! Thanks for playing!

I tried to play your game....

If only I could be so grossly incandescent.

Incredible as always, Modus! Never gotten past the part with the shadowy creature.. but I still loved failing and trying again a dozen times :)

This was really cool! One of the most unique games I've ever played! The mechanics are very fresh and confusing, but fun to figure out. Loved this!

I loved the aesthetic of this. I didn't know what to do for the most of it but I managed to brute force my way through it! You always impress Modus

Yours is the first game

The game's straight up fun. No doubt there. I hope you can expand this into a full game.

Here's my channel for other games I have played. http://www.youtube.com/c/Levont

The DBZ is strong with this one

Is this game 32bit? My pc with 64bit needs a repair.

Oh man, this one was a trip! Both fun and frustrating at the same time, because (at least for me) the fun came from figuring out what to do and how to make it all work. Great job!

The aesthetic is amazing, I also love that you accomplished so much with two whole weeks left on the game jam deadline. I've been endlessly impressed with Modus (and much of itch.io broadly) since being introduced through the Bundle for Racial Justice and Equality. Awesome work--can't wait to try more of your titles.

It was so cool, enjoyed every bit.

Man, who can i win the boss? I didn't understand what i have to do xD

(+1)

I realized after a couple tries that you have to spam click while pointing the same rune above his head at him.

(+1)

That was dope. I got the ultra powerful ending after a few tries. Love all the visual florish and noises.

(+1)

Is the game finished and needs no more updates?

(+1)

It’s all finished!

This just oozes creativity and style. So much accomplished in so little time. Wonderful!

This looks sick, can't wait to try it!
